Welcome to Skin Pathology Associates. Founded in 1995 in Birmingham, Alabama, we are a team of eight board-certified dermatopathologists with a wide range of expertise, a desire to help patients, and a collaborative spirit.
Our primary goal is to aid referring clinicians in the care of their patients by delivering accurate and timely diagnoses. We provide rapid transport of the specimens to our laboratory, where we efficiently process and track them throughout each step – from accessioning to reporting. Our experienced team of customer service specialists is accessible and helpful, should you have questions or issues. Moreover, communication between the pathologist and clinician is as essential as it is productive to patient care, and our pathologists are always happy to discuss a case.

Our History
Skin Pathology Associates was established in 1995 as a privately-owned group of board-certified dermatopathologists serving clinicians in the Southeast and beyond. Our expertise includes a comprehensive array of disciplines within dermatopathology, including inflammatory diseases, alopecia, cutaneous lymphomas, and neoplasms. While we do not see patients directly, we work closely with clinicians to provide the best diagnosis in each clinicopathologic scenario.
Our guiding principle is that fast and accurate diagnoses are essential to the evaluation and management of patients. We utilize rapid specimen pickup, tissue processing, and results reporting. Our reputation for accurate and timely reporting of diagnoses has helped us become one of the most prominent dermatopathology laboratories in the United States.
